Day 1: Victoria Falls
Today is the arrival in Victoria Falls and the first opportunity to visit the stunning Victoria Falls on your own. The bustling adventure town of Victoria Falls offers a variety of optional activities. For those of us seeking another dose of adrenaline, there is the opportunity to do a bungy jump over the Zambezi River. And for the more relaxed travelers, there are craft markets and an excellent high tea is served at the Victoria Falls Hotel. Meals: Lunch, Dinner. Day 2: Victoria Falls to Kasane (Chobe National Park)
This morning there is an opportunity to participate in the many optional activities offered in the town of Victoria Falls. After lunch, we begin our adventurous African journey and drive the short distance to the border into Botswana, which we will cross. In the late afternoon we reach our accommodation to set up camp on the banks of the Chobe River. The Chobe National Park is one of the most popular safari destinations in Botswana, in addition to its diverse landscapes and its long-standing reputation for its elephant population, the park is home to Africa's Big Five. Day 3: Kasane - Nata
We bid farewell to the Chobe River and the adventure continues in Africa. We head to Nata to the Nata Salt Pans, which are among the largest salt pans in the world. A flatland consisting of salt crusts, showcasing a unique landscape. During the rainy season, small temporary lakes form here and during the dry season the landscape is very barren. Nevertheless, many animals call this place home, including many bird species that nest here. We will take a drive through the pans. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Day 4: Kasane - Khwai Reserve
We will be separated from the Overland truck for the next two nights, so it is important to pack personal items needed for the next two days/nights together. Please only take the essentials. We continue our journey through southern Africa. We reach the Khwai Reserve, one of Botswana's most renowned reserves. It lies in the Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world, home to a diverse range of wildlife and landscapes. The Khwai Reserve is managed by the local community, which engages in community-based tourism, a form of sustainable tourism from which community members directly benefit. Our guide will explain what to expect here. In the afternoon, there will be an excursion into the Okavango Delta. (the excursion may be postponed to the next morning). Day 5: Moremi Game Reserve
After breakfast, a spectacular safari awaits us today. We embark on a full-day game drive in the Moremi Game Reserve. Over an area of 5,000 km², we experience a diverse landscape of marshes, waterways, and savannahs. Here we will see many famous African wildlife such as crocodiles, hippos, lions, giraffes, elephants, and white rhinos. Nature lovers' hearts will race. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Day 6: Khwai to Maun
We will set off early today with our 4x4 vehicles and head toward Maun. Maun is world-famous as the gateway to the Okavango Delta, but that lies behind us now. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 7: Maun to Divundu
Today we rise early as we cross the border into Namibia and continue along the Kavango River to the town of Divundu. Divundu is a small but bustling town on the riverbank. In the afternoon, an adventure awaits us with a boat ride on the Kavango River. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlight: Boat ride on the Kavango River.
Day 8: Divundu to Etosha National Park
After breakfast, our African journey heads toward the next safari highlight as we reach the gates of Etosha National Park. Etosha, at 18,000 km², is one of the largest national parks in southern Africa. It is famous for its large salt pan, known as the Etosha Pan. Here, many animals await us at the waterhole. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 9: Etosha National Park
Etosha is the site for some of the most unique wildlife viewing in Africa. In the morning, we set off to explore the edges of the Etosha Pan in search of the many wildlife that inhabit the park. An ultimate safari experience awaits. After lunch at camp, the rest of the day is at leisure. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlight: Morning game drive.
Day 10: Etosha National Park
On our 3rd day in Etosha with its breathtaking and fascinating landscape, a highlight of this Africa group journey awaits us. After sunrise and a delicious breakfast, we embark on a full-day safari through the park. The longer a game drive lasts, the more one can see and experience. Always keep an eye out for animals that roam the endless expanses of the Etosha Pan. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlight: Full-day safari in Etosha National Park.
Day 11: Brandberg White Lady
After a final morning game drive in Etosha and a sensory breakfast, we leave the park and continue our group experience travel westward. Today's destination in Africa is the town of Khorixas, in the Kunene (largest river in Namibia) region. On the way in our Overland Truck, we stop at the petrified forest. Here we will see fossilized tree trunks that became petrified around 280 million years ago. This natural phenomenon gives us a glimpse into the prehistoric landscape and thus the geological history of the region. Before we reach Khorixas in the evening, we visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Twyfelfontein. Rock engravings and paintings can be seen here, which are among the oldest on the African continent. It is believed to be works of the early San (Bushmen). Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlights: Morning game drive, Petrified Forest, Twyfelfontein (perhaps also the next morning).
Day 12: Khorixas to Swakopmund
After sunrise, we temporarily leave the expanses of Namibia's desert behind and meet the monstrous cold waves of the Atlantic Ocean, on the Namibian coast. We make a stop at the Lichen colonies, where we can witness a natural curiosity. Lichens are algae and fungi that have a symbiotic relationship. Due to their hardiness, they are incredibly adaptable, allowing them to survive for long periods in these climatic conditions. Unique photographs will abound here. Before reaching the picturesque Swakopmund, we stop in the holiday town of Wlotskasbaken, where a fantastic photo spot with the Atlantic Ocean awaits. With all these unforgettable memories in our travel luggage, we now arrive at the colonial coastal town of Swakopmund. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlight: Dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 13: Swakopmund
Today is free to experience adventures, explore Swakopmund, or simply enjoy a tasty cake in one of the local cafes. Swakopmund offers all the amenities of a small town and experiences for every taste, including for thrill-seekers. Meals: Breakfast. Optional activities: Dolphin Cruise, Sky Diving, Sandboarding, Quad Biking, and more.
Day 14: Swakopmund - Sesriem
With the charm of Swakopmund and the waves of the ocean behind us, our African group journey continues. We cross the Tropic of Capricorn and then head back inland. The Sesriem Canyon is a gorge formed millions of years ago by a river. In the afternoon, we have the privilege of exploring the desert with a local guide. We will receive extensive information about the natural phenomena of the Namib Desert. It is worth going to bed early as the next morning a highlight of this adventure awaits. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlight: Guided desert walk with local guide, Tropic of Capricorn.
Day 15: Sossusvlei and Namib-Naukluft National Park
We get up early and travel to the Namib-Naukluft National Park. We enter the park early and make a stop to climb the famous Dune 45, where we can admire the picturesque and changing colors of the desert. After stretching our legs and enjoying a hearty breakfast, we take a 4x4 transfer to the wonders of Sossusvlei. We take our time to visit both Sossusvlei and Deadvlei on foot before bidding farewell to the dune fields. Today we will reside under the starry sky of the desert. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlight: Climb Dune 45, visit Sossusvlei/Deadvlei and the Sesriem Canyon.
Day 16: Namib-Naukluft National Park
Today is a free day for relaxation. We find ourselves in not only Namibia's third largest national park but also in one of the largest protected areas in the world with an area of nearly 50,000 km². There are opportunities for self-guided walks where antelope, springbok, ostrich, and jackals may be spotted. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 17: Keetmanshoop
After breakfast, we pack our things. Each overland journey has long travel days, and today is one of those days. We spend a lot of time in our truck on the way to Keetmanshoop. Nevertheless, our African group journey today is also filled with unforgettable experiences. Contrary to popular belief, the quiver tree is not a tree but a plant that can live between 200 and 300 years. We will visit the Quiver Tree Forest and the Giants Playground, which gets its name from the way the massive dolerite blocks are stacked, creating rock formations and a series of mazes. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlights: Visit to the Giants Playground/Visit to the Quiver Tree Forest.
Day 18: Fish River Canyon and Orange River
Our stunning and unforgettable adventure group journey, full of experiences from safari, nature, and culture is coming to an end. Today we drive to the edge of the Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon in the world and the largest canyon on the African continent. Here we take a walk that offers unique and fascinating views into the canyon. Of course, great photo spots will present themselves here. We continue to the Orange River in the border region to South Africa. On the banks of the largest river in South Africa, which also flows through parts of Namibia, we will spend our last night on Namibian soil. In the afternoon, there is an optional opportunity to go canoeing on the river. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlight: Visit to the Fish River Canyon. Optional activity: Half-day canoe trip.
Day 19: Orange River – Cederberg
After a final border crossing, we reach South Africa this morning (the most beautiful end of the world) and drive through the desert landscape of Namaqualand to the Cederberg region. Those lucky enough to travel in the spring months (July to September) may see the wildflowers that have made this region famous. Regardless of the season, the odd desert views provide a unique backdrop for today. This evening we will enjoy a traditional meal and celebrate the many memories we've made. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 20: Cederberg – Cape Town
The last day of this breathtaking and unforgettable adventure trip as a group dawns. The Cederberg region offers not only spectacular mountains and orange farms but is also home to the rooibos plant. This herb drink, native to the mountain slopes of the Cedar Mountains, has gained an international reputation as a healthy and refreshing alternative to regular tea. The Cederberg region is known for its mountain fynbos and spectacular views of the rugged Cedarberg Mountains. With our travel luggage full of dreamlike memories that one will never forget in their lifetime, we head towards the destination of our African journey. We approach Cape Town and see the magnificent Table Mountain arise in the distance. We stop to view it from the other side of Table Bay. The tour ends with our arrival in downtown Cape Town. The bustling, vibrant metropolis of Cape Town offers countless experiences that make extending your stay highly recommended. The V&A Waterfront with its numerous shops and restaurants invites you to linger. Here you will also find dozens of activities that Cape Town has to offer. For example, you can take a boat to Robben Island from here. It is an offshore island in Table Bay, where the prison stands where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 18 years. Additionally, the downtown area offers many experiences, including African markets of all kinds. No visit to Cape Town is complete without a drive or a hike up the world-famous Table Mountain, which provides a wonderful and unique view of Cape Town and Table Bay. Wine lovers will particularly enjoy Cape Town and its nearby surroundings. Meals: Breakfast.
